SPLG1TSH is Spelling I, Object Recognition & Spelling from the Terrapin
Schoolhouse. This color only formerly commercial product has been
released as SHAREWARE and appears here in the Suzy B's Software catalog by
permission of the head of Terrapin Software, Robert Hinton. The program
has been written with six (6) different lessons with twelve (12) multi-
colored, graphic images in each lesson. The student is challenged to
recognize each object, and input the correct spelling of the names of the
objects. The 'views' of the objects are either vertical, elevation
perspectives or the 'top view'. The program includes a unique one-to-
one assignment of 26 different tones for each of the 26 different
letters of the alphabet. When the student selects a letter for
inclusion in the name of an object, the unique sound tone for that
letter is emitted by your computer monitor speakers. When the name of
an object is spelled correctly, the computer sounds three tones
(musical notes) in succession which correspond with the first letter of
the word; the 'average tone' of the word (computed from the linear scale
of tone assignments for the 26 letters of the alphabet); and then the
tone assignment to the last letter of the word. These tone assignments
may be suppressed by turning the volume knob on the monitor to the lower
limit.
